Brillant d’un éclectisme omniprésent, l’actrice et auteure-compositrice américaine Macy Gray est de retour avec un nouvel album intitulé « The Reset ». Elle présentera ce florilège de chansons avec son nouveau groupe, The California Jet Club, le 8 novembre à salle de La Madeleine à Bruxelles.

Macy Gray est de retour ! Et avec quel panache ! Cette fois-ci, elle est à la tête de son propre groupe, The California Jet Club. Produit par Tommy Parker, le nouvel opus de Macy, « The Reset », nous la dévoile sous son meilleur jour, avec une introspection lyrique mêlée d’une exubérance vocale. Les chansons font le grand-écart entre l’intimité vulnérable caractéristique de Macy sur le single principal « Thinking of You » et la ballade orchestrale épique « You Got Away », en passant par le « Bottom to the Top », à la fois festif et sensuel, et « Every Night », très entraînant, que l’ensemble du public reprendra en chœur.

Cet album se démarque des dix albums studio précédents de Macy Gray, pour lesquels elle a été nommée cinq fois aux Grammy Awards (et en a d’ailleurs remporté un), par l’engagement total des membres du groupe qui tournent avec elle. Le batteur Tamir Barzilay, le claviériste Billy Wes et le bassiste Alex Kyhn ont tous plusieurs casquettes : ils sont non seulement des cadors de leur instrument spécifique, mais sont également multi-instrumentistes, coauteurs et choristes.

Voici ce que pense Macy Gray de « The Reset » : « Dieu nous dit de repenser les choses que nous faisons… Notre manière de vivre. À l’instar de la boîte de Pandore, on assiste au jaillissement de nombreuses choses auxquelles les gens avaient cessé de prêter attention. Le monde est en train de se réinitialiser. The ever eclectic American singer-songwriter and actress Macy Gray is back with a new album ‘The Reset’. She will perform that collection of songs together with her new band The California Jet Club on 8 November at La Madeleine.

Macy Gray is back. And how! This time she is at the helm of her own band, called The California Jet Club. Produced by Tommy Parker, ‘The Reset’ shows Macy Gray at her best, with lyrical introspection and vocal exuberance. The songs range from Macy’s signature vulnerable intimacy on lead single ‘Thinking of You’, the epic orchestral ballad ‘You Got Away’ and the festive, sensual ‘Bottom to the Top’ to the rousing sing-along ‘Every Night’.

What makes this album distinguished from Macy Gray’s previous 10 studio albums, for which she was nominated five times for a Grammy Award (with one win), is the complete involvement of the band members touring with her. Drummer Tamir Barzilay, keyboardist Billy Wes and bassist Alex Kyhn all specialize in specific instruments, but are also multi-instrumentalists, co-writers and backing vocalists.
